I finally got a chance to actually have a 2hrs++ break on the laptop so I'm blogging now.. Recently, it has been pretty hectic for me.. Ever since school started. My whole schedule is something like this now : Monday - Remedial, Tuesday: Maths Tuition, Wednesday: CCA & Physics Tuition, Thursday: POA Tuition, Friday: Chinese Tuition and Saturday: Japanese class. Sunday's a break day for me [And hopefully, will remain as one].. Being in Secondary 4's a tough thing.. Crucial Os aside, the life of a Secondary 4 is really demanding and energy-draining. Probably because you guys don't have as many tuitions as I do [And hopefully you don't]. It's hard trying to juggle these tuitions with those godforsaken school remedials.. Especially when your teacher only announces the day of remediation [which just so happens to be on the day when you have tuition - in my case, almost everyday =_=], and the feeling of 'It's not even April yet, whatthefuck?' just kicks in.. Okay, okay, I've got to stop this philosophical shit that I type on my blog all the time.. But life's just full of frustration and here's the only place that I can type out how I feel about it [A little, because the internet isn't exactly private and freedom of speech doesn't work out that way in my country, which sucks. Because it wholly takes out the meaning of 'freedom' from the phrase.] Speaking about that, I just realised how silly schools are.. They are hell-bent on improving our English but, there's just something they refuse to acknowledge. If the schools want their students to be fluent in English or in any other language, here's the first rule - abide by the meaning of words in the dictionary. I think other students that are reading this would probably get it. Yeah - Holiday. If holidays are just meant to give students a break from the crazy hell we go through in school [It isn't just lessons we're talking here, projects, assignments, homework..etc.], why in the world is there even something called 'Holiday homework' that exists? And oooooon the subject of English, [In which I am deteriorating in badly now], my school had to band us into different English Bands. And I was placed in Band 3. Disappointed? Hell yes. Of course I was. So much so that right now, I'm beginning to realise things about my English [Which I wished that I would have never realised in the first place].. I don't know any shits about present future tense, all the tenses and such. I'm even beginning to doubt my own English.. Composition writing even poses a slight problem to me now, because every now and then, I would just stop writing and think; 'Am I phrasing this correctly?', 'these phrases sound off', 'Am I supposed to use whatever tense in here?'.. All these questions just randomly pop into my head and I start doubting whatever I'm writing. I'm not exactly sure if this had anything to do with the banding for English but I hope that this is just momentary and would just fade off my mind soon enough. If this were to happen for the Os, I am screwed. Big time. Currently, I'm trying to make reading English books a habit instead of only looking at Japanese characters all the time with pictures. I recently borrowed 4 books from the library - 1. The Switch by Anthony Horowitz, 2. Strangers by Taichi Yamada, 3. Thinner by Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman, 4. Paradise by Koji Suzuki. I've already read The Switch for like, a couple of times (Because the plot just keeps appealing to me no matter how many times I read this book). Initially, I went to the library with the intention of borrowing The Unholy Grail but it wasn't availible for loan so I decided to settle for another one of Anthony Horowitz's works and borrowed this instead. It was my first time reading other books.. I know that1/2 of these books were written by Japanese authors but they are translated into English for easy reading. And the translators' use of vocabulary to replace the Japanese ones are just, nothing short of amazing. I always thought that translated books would most likely deviate from the original storyline of the story in one way or another due to certain words that cannot be translated into English, no matter how much you look for the simplified meaning, there is none and the translator has to use words that most likely contain the original meaning of the word to replace it. But when I read Strangers, I didn't think that the translator would've been that good. Although, of course, nothing beats the original. A language carries more meaning by itself alone. When you translate that language into another, more or less most of the time, the meanings would somehow change and deviate. I guess that to thoroughly enjoy the story, it would be better to read the original story in whatever language it was written in to fully understand and feel the depth of the text and stuff like that, but then again, that's just my opinion XD. Strangers was actually quite touching at the end [I still have a heart, lol.] when the man ended up alone by himself. Thinner by Stephen King was pretty good too... Though I would have to say that Cell was the first and only novel that makes me really want to read it over and over again, like some person addicted to pot. Thinner is probably my 2nd best favourite among Stephen King's works. I tried out Cujo but it didn't really work out for me because of the St Bernard dying in the end.. ...Maybe because I'm more of an animal lover. I'm currently quarter-way through Paradise though. The story 's pretty good so far and I feel that this book's rather descriptive, which is probably great for a person like me because I love descriptive stuff. I can never stop stressing on the descriptions when it comes to stories =P. I really wish that someone would translate Ring or Dark Water into english because I suck at reading Chinese. When I tried reading Ju-On in Chinese, I didn't really get scared or disgusted or anything like that - though my Chinese speaking friend kept telling me how scary that novel was. Which shows my epic failure in the language, once again. So lastly... All the winter animes are slowly (most of them already are) being released.. And I've already spotted a few which appealed to me (Or at least the sypnosis does). . 1. これはゾンビですか? [Kore ha Zombie desuka?] 2.Beelzebub 3.Gosick 4.夢食いメリー [Yumekui Merry] ...And that is probably about all.. for now >D.
